Our first client was us.
Client case studies are on their way. Until then, here's the full story of how our own identity came together, because it shows exactly how we work with clients.
Seven rounds, one happy owl
The brief: a logo for a studio that does branding, websites, AI and photography. It should feel friendly, hint at vector design tools, and work in more than one color.
How it took shape
Eight directions
Pen-tool owls, pen nibs, monograms, speech bubbles and wordmarks. One detail stood out: a line that starts from a single dot and leads into the owl.
Straight lines
We rebuilt the owl from straight lines only, removed the shapes that read as a cat or a fox, and gave it smiling eyes.
The big idea
One half filled in, one half still an outline with anchor points and a dashed line waiting to close. An idea becoming a finished design.
Eyes that follow
On the web the owl's eyes follow your pointer, and it smiles when you hover. Visitors pick their owl, and the site takes on its color.
One owl, seven colors, every file.
The final identity uses a fixed ink and paper with seven swappable accent colors. The owl's face and accents change, and the shape never does.
